So here I sit… On the stationary bike typing this post. I am on my Touch, the fill-in until I get my new Canadian iPhone through Rogers.
Rogers has agreed finally to carry the iPhone after a year of watching Americans and some of Europe get theirs. And even though I had friends unlock them, I endured the wait, and here I am just over a month away from getting my own!
Currently I have a blackberry and many of my friends do too. I do love my blackberry for a few features…
1. Pinning. I think pinning is just catching on. Most people who own the devices don’t know what it is. Well basically it is sending a message to another blackberry directly skipping your email server. It is fast and you can see it has been delivered.I use this a lot to message my boyfriend and other close friends. Tip: did you know you can add your pin to a
message by typing: mypin[space]
2. Another useful feature is the Blackberry messenger. Another RIM creation. It is like instant messengers like MSN. You can see when the message is delivered AND read. You can also send pictures which is really handy if you want to have someone give an opinion ok that pair of shoes that you are looking to buy.
Hopefully on the iPhone there will be an iChat client soon. We’ll have to wait for that one but I’m sure it isn’t far behind.
Some downfalls to the Blackberry…
It is ugly. Sure when I got my red curve everyone ooohed and awwed. But put it next to an iPhone and it looks like an old ford pinto.
Another downfall is software. I know there is software for Blackberry but it is a hassle to install and I really have no desire, than to check email and my Facebook. Even Facebook is getting mundane.
So the bottom line is, I am dropping my Blackberry Curve for an iPhone as soon as I can get my hands on one! I’m hoping that Rogers will have some sort of pre-order system in place as I don’t want to have to search the city for one, but we’ll see. Also the rate plans haven’t been announced yet. I’m a sucker, I’ll pay, but I’m hoping the data is at least unlimited.
This new blog (Typepad) was created only because I saw the new nifty iPhone application ready to launch when the new iPhone’s are available…I just hope that I have an iPhone to use it on relatively close to the launch date.
