With Gavin being the only one who hasn’t visited Barcelona, we definitely wanted to show him the sites of the city. So we set off on the morning bright and early to see what we could see in just one day.
This was our first port where the weather was not clear and sunny. There was a fear of rain, but we actually lucked out, and the day turned out to be overcast but yet warm and dry.
We hopped in a taxi first and zoomed across the city to Sagrada Familia. Having just been in Barcelona in September, I won’t go into too much detail, but again just like my first visit, I was taken by the grandeur and size of the church.
We then walked to La Padrera, the apartment building designed by Gaudy and did another quick tour of the building and the famous rooftop with all of the smartly designed chimney stacks.
With two stops down, we hopped into another taxi and went to Parc Guell. Another site with Gaudy designs. The park was crazy busy, but we maneuvered our way around to see all of the sites to see there.
With the chosen tourist sites done, we returned to the top of La Rambla, the pedestrian mall and wandered around the gothic centre and through the many many people that were in the city. I think we counted 6 cruise ships in the port so the city was crawling with people. Because it was Sunday, most of the shops were closed except for the mall right on the water, so we headed down there to wrap up the day.
Even though our trip was quick, we managed to see everything we needed to see and show Gavin the highlights of Barcelona. Barcelona was a great port and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
