Malta… oh Malta.

After a busy day at sea… filled with Scattergories on the deck, plenty of food, and I think there was a nap involved in there too… we arrived Valletta, Malta.

I think I have run out of adjectives, so I’ll have to start recycling. Valletta was amazing… so much more than I ever expected. I wasn’t expecting too much, and it was never a destination that I would have thought to visit.

I opened the curtains and in front of me was a beautiful beige city and a harbour surrounded by castles and ocean front properties.

We quickly made our way to the Hop On Hop Off bus and a line of bitchy old people fighting about who got in line first for the coveted upper deck seats on the bus. Lucky for us, we got seats above… or was it lucky? Malta is always windy and that day was no different. We were being wind blown like crazy.

Anyway, we made our way to Rabat, an interior city on the island. And M’dina. Which is a little town (with a moat) that sits proudly at the top of a hill which provides and amazing view of all of Malta. We walked, we ate Pizza, desserts and espresso. The bus ride on the other side of the island was a lot more eventful than the ride to Rabat.

We went through the resort part of the island which turned out to be quit nice. And the city which is alongside Valletta, which I don’t know the name of was amazing. Beautiful buildings, hotels, some nice beaches…and lots of shopping and people.

One thing that gives the island some charm are the busses. Some of the busses are old classic buses, right out of a movie. They are pretty fantastic.

I think Malta is some place that I would like to return to. I’m sure there are lots of places to explore… much more than one day warrants.
