Weekend in Dyers Bay

Almost 4 hours away from Toronto, I think I have found my favourite location to cottage. Dyers Bay is on the Georgian Bay coastline just outside of Tobermory which is at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula.

We were invited by Marshall and Felipe to join them and their friends Susan and Marzena for the weekend. We had an amazing time: ate some great food, had some good conversation, and enjoyed playing in the water.

Sunday the weather was amazing and it was perfect for a quick trip to Tobermory and some water fun.

The cottage was steps away from the crystal clear water of Georgian Bay. The beach is rocky for about 15 feet but once you are past that there are huge plateaus of smooth rock where you can slowly wade further into the water. The water was cool and clear and such a pleasure to swim in. We were able to canoe and kayak also so we got to explore some of the shoreline further along from the cottage.

Just down from the cottage was a solid pier that enabled us to jump wildly into the deep cool water. I even pulled off some dives for the camera. I have to say though… the pictures of me jumping makes my stomach look huge! If only I didn’t have to breath in before jumping in. Hmm.

What we thought was a downfall when we first got there was the lack of 3G and Internet connectivity, but we got over that pretty quick. Brad was able to finish his book and I was able to let go of work for the weekend.

Here are some pictures of the trip. To see all the pictures, click here.
