Museum Tour

2011-11-05

Recently Brad upgrated our AGO membership to include reciprocal admission to other galleries. This has totally come in handy! We went to the Whitney and the Guggenheim, no admission fee, no line up. So awesome. And it is perfect because we really don't appreciate art unless it is remotely famous, so quick in-and-out visits to galleries is our style.

Whitney Gallery

The Whitney Gallery is 6 floors of art installations. It was nice to see, but nothing mind blowing.

Guggenheim New York

We made our way after the Whitney to the Guggenheim. Lucky for us our AGO membership got us in and past the line up. Without our knowledge we stumbled upon a new installation by Maurizio Cattelan.

All the art was removed from the swirling walls and in the middle was a huge installation of things hung from the 6th floor... horses, dogs, fooze ball tables, Hitler, JFK in a coffin and other pieces from his collection. It was the perfect space because as you walk around the swirling ramp down you get a new perspective and see new objects. Totally cool.
