Second Anniversary New York Trip
2011-11-04
So it looks like New York for our anniversary is becoming a tradition. Last year we had an awesome meal at Per Se and this year we didn't have a particular restaurant destination in mind but we had a free return flight to New York so what the hell?
Where are we staying? That is a good question. Aside from the free flight down, I also earned a free night at the famous Plaza hotel. And like my sister can attest to, Big Business was one of my favorite movies to watch with her...and where was most of it filmed? The Plaza of course... Bette Midler saying "You can give these to the maid" is one of my favorite movie lines!
So with his trip built around the night at the Plaza we are staying at the Westin Times Square the first night, Plaza the Saturday night and the Four Points Chelsea on Sunday and Monday. We aren't really tourists in New York do we don't mind moving around.
So our anniversary weekend begins. We are still working on P90X and Brad is recovering from a stomach bug so we won't be going too heavy for the meals. But hopefully we will end up with some good steak.
Airline
Air Canada
After a 45 minute delay we were enroute to New York. The airplane starter wasn't working so they had to roll up a portable starter truck. Luckily once the plane is started... It will run until turned off. Good thing to know. The flight was easy except for the smells. Either the girl in front of me or the man to my left with all the turquoise jewelry and big hideous rings. Whoever is it... It ain't me.
Hotel
Westin Times Square
What a surprise! At the last minute we booked this room using points and our room turned out to be awesomely beautiful! Probably one of the larger rooms we have stayed at in New York. The only issue is that the internet sucks so I'm leaching off some slow router somewhere.
Fairmont Plaza
Since I achieved Platinum status last year with Fairmont, I was able to use my one free night coupon for the Plaza. Of course I was excited cause this is a pretty fun, fancy hotel. The room is a nice size and everything is quite classical, bordering on gaudy, but I kind of like it. You won't find gold in our condo, but I don't mind it here. Secretly, I really love the bathroom.
