Waitomo Caves and the - ahem - Glow Worms

Waitomo Caves and the - ahem - Glow Worms

2012-01-19

Glow worms. What are they? As a child I remember the glow worm with the green fabric body, the hard plastic head and when you squeezed the flashlight inside the head would glow. Cute right? Nope. They aren't cute. And they don't have cute cheeks and smile.

Huka Falls and the Waiotapu Thermal Park

2012-01-19

Taupo is in the middle of New Zealand and also near all the geo thermal active area. I guess it is sort of a tourist destination... If you are more daring then myself you could sky dive [we saw jumpers landing] or if you are a little more tame you can go to Puzzle World [i was tempted by the huge maze].

New Zealand, here we come!

2012-01-17

Wellington is a lovely city. The southern most capital city in the world is nestled on the south coast of the north island of New Zealand. Follow? After an easy flight from Adelaide (with a stop in Sydney) we arrived late at night in New Zealand.

Great Ocean Road Tour

2012-01-09

So much has happened since Melbourne... And it seems like so far away. After Melbourne we headed down the Great Ocean Road. We booked a one night/two day tour with a group of about 20 on a small bus.

Marvelous Melbourne

2012-01-08

Our trip to Melbourne is coming to an end. Tomorrow we leave for the two day trek to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road. I have no doubt it will live up to its name.

Delicious Dinner at PM24

2012-01-07

Tonight we dined at a delicious French restaurant PM24. Great service, great food, and great drinks including a tasty French liqueur that we are going to try and get our hands on!

Camel Riding at Ayer's Rock

2012-01-04

Last night was spent in Uluru... or Yuluru or Ayers Rock. I still can't figure out but I think all three are the same. Uluru is basically a group of 5 or so accommodations all owned by the same company relatively close close to Ayers Rock. We stayed at The Lost Camel. I neat little place with a great pool. Thankfully… because it was 37 - 40 degrees and we needed the dip!

Kangaroo, Wallaby and Crocodile for Dinner!

2012-01-03

Do only tourists eat kangaroo, wallaby or crocodile? I don't know, but we are tourists so it was worth a try. We headed to Ochre in Cairns for an adventurous dinner of Modern Australian Cuisine.

The Great Barrier Reef

2012-01-02

Monday morning we boarded a dive boat to head to the outer Great Barrier Reef. With the New Years Eve Fireworks being the number one reason we came to Australia, for me, the next must see activity was to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef.

Cairns

2012-01-02

New Years day we headed to the airport to catch a flight to Cairns. Arriving at the domestic terminal we were excited that we were taking our first Qantas flight. What is in Cairns? The Great Barrier Reef.

Grill'd

2012-01-01

This burger was pretty freaking awesome. It was called the Big Queenslander... and it was delicious. Cheese, bacon, egg, some beetroot, relish and herbed mayo. It came with salad but of course we ordered some fries. The fries were totally awesome.
